[There must be some kind of universal attraction between this man and impromptu violence. There is a hard ker-splat noise, nearly comical. See, he's laughing in shock.]
Are you kidding me? Jesus. I seen somethings. But I never seen that before. He's blinking. Breathing. Is that how you take a picture?
[Nearby, slightly muffled.]
I have. Come on, Re-Animator.
[He presses a few buttons, believing it's off.]
What?

[Nearby, slightly muffled.]
I have. Come on, Re-Animator.
[He presses a few buttons, believing it's off.]
What?
ACTION
[He pantomimes.]
Who's going to believe a talking head? Get a job in a sideshow?
ACTION
Nope and nope.
[Back to people watching, or rather, watching for people who aren't watching. There's money to make.]
ACTION
[Sigh. Sucking on his cigarette. Here have some human rationalization.]
It's only funny cause he's still alive. You got the picture right?
ACTION
I'm not sure.
[Hard to tell with these things. At least it's easy to see which part is the front and which part is the back. He holds the screen to Freddy.]
Anything there?
[Old lady. Nope. Young guy, it's clear he's got no cash. Larry's keeping an eye out at the space beyond Freddy's shoulders.]
ACTION
[Hey they're trying to be subtle right? Man in a trenchcoat stumbling along half a block behind him is not subtle.]
That picture's kind of shit. No offense.
ACTION
I'm about sure I've never heard of it before.
[Okay, two..back... There's our man. Stumbling all the way. At a glance it looks like he's on his own. Even better.]
Bumper car. Think you can manage?
ACTION
Think he's packin'?
[Drunks can still get a shot off. You're an asshole, Newendyke, he thinks to himself, but look whatever works. Botching it's something he can't risk. However if it comes to it, he tries to think of the many times he's pilfered the car keys from his dad and his brother.]
ACTION
[And if he is, if he's wrong--Larry's very sure that he's not--fucker's not going to live a minute longer. Back to that carefree little job at hand.].
You'd feel it first. Remember? Likely at the armpit.
[That's one of the first things that Larry learned, everyone's got their own approach.]
ACTION
Could be a shank.
[Just saying. He makes his way towards poor Nick Fisher who's none the wiser. The things you gotta remember are the details. The details sell your story. This particular story takes place on an uncrowded sidewalk in an unnamed city. Freddy's approach is less than subtle, not the bumper car Larry prescribed. In fact he's talking to the guy, animated as always, hand on the shoulder, hand to the elbow. He's all hands, our Freddy.]
ACTION
Does Freddy have to touch him so much? There are only a few places to do it.]
ACTION
We had beers at a New Years party, haven't seen the guy since he went in too deep at the tracks.
[A shrug goes here. That's what Freddy's good at, pretending to be someone he's not. Oh and by the way, there's a wallet in Larry's pocket now. The coinage isn't heavy in count but it's decent in color. What's more important is the apparent use of credit and some cards with symbols and phone numbers. Work hard win hard, or something.]
ACTION
Fucking ace, nice work.
[Larry hands back the wallet to Freddy, except he puts it into his back pocket this time.]
Round two? Lemme at it.
[Someone or something heavier than that for the comfort living side. That grand night out was a sizable dent. Oh looky there, some lady is talking on her phone. Oblivious to the world.]
ACTION
Come on, we gotta take a look at the haul.
[Conflict of conscience, Freddy has it. Robbing a criminal is one thing, civilians are another matter. Their luck might run out prematurely. Besides, that old lady with the shears looks like she's about to go for the one on the phone. Don't get involved, Larry.]
ACTION
God above, he didn't see that coming. Now he wishes they could stay to watch. It's like a Saturday morning cartoon come to life.
The matter at hand is that they've got something.]
Sure.
[Good walk away, Dimick.]
ACTION
Third Exorcist, by the way.
[Referring to the Saturday morning cartoon over there, though he's pretty sure it's lost on Larry.]
I thought this kind of shit was a little too... [Hand wavering goes here.] beneath you.
ACTION
It is little, but it gets results. And sometimes the challenge is the largest part of the pay off.
[This isn't the same as saying that he agrees. It didn't seem like any thing to Freddy. Smooth guy that he is, it's a walk in the park probably. They can get him a challenge too.]
How much you want to bet the casino is jumping while everyone's trying to get a head.
[Absolutely accidental pun. For being in such a good humor he doesn't crack a smile at it.]
ACTION
. . . .
[He stares at Larry but doesn't miss a beat. Hand to shoulder, firm pat then a squeeze.]
Some of them got no body to play with.
ACTION
It's vaguely distracting getting touched by Freddy in public. Just saying.
...Okay, now he gets it.]
Oh, I ain't got no body. And no body cares for me.
[That's all he'll croon. It's ridiculous enough.]
Where are we headed?
ACTION
You gotta quit while you're ahead. [Freddy should take his own advice.] You wanna go lookin' for that track?
ACTION
[Cheap puns he means. Already they've pulled out what? Five? That's five too many.]
Nah. I'm thinking tacos though. Then we can take a look and see what we really got.
[He's always thinking tacos. They should take em to go in case if there's more head nonsense which...judging by the day is rolling doesn't seem impossible.
Then they can see whether or not they need to hit up anybody. If it were based on Larry alone, he'd just keep going til he was tired or forced to leave the area. Working with someone else evens him out, keeps him alert. Freddy especially. Gotta look out for the kid. Always.]
